Here are the smelliest Pokémon most likely to cause offense to your olfactory senses! From Pokemon that smell bad like rotting fish, to wet dog scented Pokemon, to those that smell like garbage and everything in between... it's a big question! Which Pokemon smells the worst? Here are the stinkiest smelliest Pokemon ever!
Stinkiest Pokemon that Smell Bad Ranked
10. Sirfetch’d
Known as the Wild Duck Pokemon, a Fighting Type Pokemon from Generation 8, this duck-like Pokemon is the the evolved form of Galarian Farfetch'd and yes, that is a sharp leek stalk it is wielding, that it uses as both a weapon and as its food. With leek breath and a stale onion like aroma, this feathery fiend is definitely one that is as likely to be just as an assault on your nose as it is on your Pokemon. A bird with a very distinctive (and disgusting) odor, Sirfetch’d may not look it, but under that noble facade is the particular scent that I can only imagine this duck Pokémon carries with it like a trusty companion on its travels.
9. Machop/Machamp
Machamp might not come across as a particularly stinky Pokemon, but it belongs on this list for a good reason. As a rugged, buff Fighting-type from Generation 1, known as the Superpower Pokemon, there is no other Pokemon who loves working out more than Machamp. Take its love of arm workouts in to consideration, then multiply that level of dedication with the number of arms it possesses and thus, the number of armpits and amount of sweat excreted, and a picture is painted of one thoroughly stinky Pokemon, who wouldn't be able to get the lid of a can of deodorant or antipersperant in order to use it - as its Pokedex entry tells us, “It can lift heavy loads with the greatest of ease... but its clumsy fingers prevent it from doing any precision work.”
So, from that alone, we can divulge that Machop, or its evolved form Machamp, must be pretty darn stinky and earns a place on this list!
8. Tangrowth
While one would think that Plant-types would smell like lovely fresh-cut grass, Tangrowth’s hunting habits would ensure that taking a whiff of this Pokémon would be a rather unpleasant experience.
Tangrowth’s tendrils aren’t just a fashion statement.
It uses them as tentacles to trap its prey, dragging unsuspecting Pokémon into the inky darkness hiding in the overgrowth.
That means bits of food are sure to get stuck, getting smellier as the weather warms up, and Tangrowth’s vines go into maximum overdrive.
Eau de Tangrowth: Opening up the compost bin after last week’s batch of forgotten leftovers and lawn clippings.
7. Piloswine
If you have ever recoiled at the scent of wet dog, wait til you smell wet Piloswine! Or even dry Piloswine, as, even though the Pokedex doesn’t explicitly state its scent, we can definitely hazard a guess and draw some pretty science based conclusions based on the facts we’re given. Piloswine's long, thick and matted coat helps to protect it against the cold and harsh weather, to help it to endure the freezing cold. It is likely to be well matted with oils to produce a waterproof layer that keeps out the rain, sleet and snow, but it is also known that this Pokemon has quite a sweaty habit of charging about in order to intimidate its opponents, plus the fact that is has obscured vision causes it to charge over and over, causing it to work up a sweat in the process, thus creating a very foul odor indeed.
6. Furret
Even though the Pokedex doesn't tell us how Furret smells, it's very likely to be one of the smelliest Pokemon on our list, if we base it off its real life counterpart and take in to account certain factors. It is well known that ferrets have a particular musk that can quickly fill a room, but if we take in to account the size of this Pokemon, standing at 5’11 and weighing 75 pounds, we might assume that its 16x larger body might mean 16x larger scent glands, excreting 16 times the musty scent of pet rodents. It's definitely interesting to consider!
5. Muk
One of our stinky slime Pokemon is the living, breathing biohazard that is Muk, producing a whole bouquet of foul and nauseating odors. Appearing a little like a dung heap, this grimy Pokemon is pretty iconic; Muk, not to be confused with its rainbow explosion of a version that is Alolan Muk, is a large, sticky, amorphous Pokémon made of living purple sludge, that arose from the depths of Generation 1 as a Poison Type Pokemon. Like its typing suggests, it is poisonous (or at least offensive) to pretty much every sensory organ and it is said to smell so bad it can cause widespread fainting. Through degeneration of its nose, it lost its sense of smell and it also went on to become a dual Poison and Dark Type Pokemon in Generation 7. It is the evolved form of Grimer (naturally).
4. Garbodor
Just ahead of Muk on our list is the equally revolting and strong smelling Pokemon that is Garbodor! A Poison type Pokémon from Generation 5, it is known as the Trash Heap Pokémon for… obvious reasons. Making Pokemon out of inanimate objects never fails to be creepy! Even more creepy is that it eats rubbish or trash and the toxic liquid it launches from its right arm is so virulent that it can kill a weakened creature instantly. Ewwww! Still, I guess this Poison critter does send a strong message about the horrors of pollution. It hails from the Unova region and it is recommended to teach it Explosion so you don't have to look it anymore... ugggh! Garbodor’s whole fighting style involves consuming garbage to fuel his horrendous breath, which is smelly enough to yield as a weapon, according to the Pokedex entry from Omega Ruby:
“It clenches opponents with its left arm and finishes them off with foul-smelling poison gas belched from its mouth.”
3. Weezing
Weezing is the ultimate industrial stinkbomb, constantly emitting toxic gas from the jutting growths that grow around its body.
While poisons aren’t particularly known for their stench, Weezings prefer a rather unique habitat that certainly doesn’t make it smell like fresh-baked bread or a lovely candle:
To quote its entry from Pokémon Omega Ruby:
“Weezing loves the gases given off by rotted kitchen garbage. This Pokémon will find a dirty, unkempt house and make it its home. At night, when the people in the house are asleep, it will go through the trash.”
Eau de Weezing: Driving past a factory that produces dog food from the gristle of chickens, with a rich, smokey finish that settles deep in your nose and just won’t go away.
2. Skuntank
Loosely based on a skunk in real life, it carries the same smell as one too and creatures all over the world have been using their foul aroma as a deterrent ever since smelling was a thing. A dual Poison and Dark Type Pokemon from Generation 4, it is appropriately known as the Skunk Pokemon. This critter has perfected scent to the point where it’s Stench ability is capable of making even the strongest Pokémon flinch, plus has access to some pretty interesting moves like Toxic, Taunt, and Explosion, alongside access to the Aftermath ability, which will go on to damage an attacking Pokémon for 1/4th of its max HP if they knock out Skuntank with a contact move. More than just a bad smell, there is strategy underneath!
1. Gloom
Look at this creepy looking critter! It looks straight out of the dark realms of a storybook and may be the foulest smelling Pokemon of all, being able to emit an incredibly foul odour the likes have never been smelt before throughout the Pokemon realm! A dual Poison and Grass Type Pokemon from Generation 1, it emits its fearsome odour through the pistils atop its head, a stench that is said to be so powerful that it can cause memory loss and fainting in humans up to a whole mile away. What's worse, like smelling your own farts underneath the duvet, this Pokémon and its prey find the putrescent aroma quite pleasant! From its mouth drips a honey that smells incredibly repulsive, the then noxious fumes cause it to drool and salivate more. Gloom may look like it’s always asleep, but in reality, it’s constantly cooking up a wretched, eye-watering scent that truly nothing can compare! Got to love the weird and wonderful world of Pokemon!
