Best Dragon Type Legendary Pokemon Ranked
10. Naganadel
Starting off our list of the best Legendary Dragon type Pokemon is none other than Naganadel, a dual Poison and Dragon Type Pokemon from Generation 7 and first introduced in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This incredible Ultra Beast stores hundreds of liters of poisonous, glowing, toxic liquid inside its body, which it uses its needles to administer, when being threatened by an opponent. This special feature earned it the nickname of the Poison Pin Pokemon.
9. Reshiram
Our next best Legendary Dragon type Pokemon is of course Reshiram! This beautiful all white angel like Legendary Pokemon hails from Generation 5 and is a dual Dragon and Fire Type known as the Vast White Pokemon. Pretty iconic in its own right, being the only Fire Type Pokemon to be robed in snowy white, it has the power to scorch the world in fire and desires to help those who want to build a world of truth. When Reshiram's tail flares, the heat energy moves the atmosphere and changes the world's weather. Good attacks for Reshiram include Blue flare, Draco meteor, Stone edge, Roost and Toxic.
8. Zekrom
Let's talk the powerhouse Pokemon that is Zekrom! So powerful that it can scorch the world with lightning, it assists those who want to build an ideal world and conceals itself in lightning clouds as it flies throughout the Unova region. This main legendary Pokémon for Generation 5’s White version is known as the Deep Black Pokémon. A bit ironic, I know. This incredible dark and shadowy dual Dragon/Electric-type Pokemon likes to help those who pursue their ideas and fight for their beliefs. It is known to be part of the Tao Trio.
7. Dialga
Our 7th best legendary Dragon type Pokemon is Dialga, an amazing futuristic looking beast known as the Temporal Pokemon, from Generation 4. A dual Steel and Dragon Type, it has the power to control time and appears in Sinnoh-region myths as an ancient deity; there are many legends in the Pokemon realm which surround it. It is even said that time began moving when it was born.
Good attacks for Dialga include Draco meteor, Fire blast, Thunder, Stealth rocks and Toxic.
6. Palkia
Also appearing in Pokemon mythology is Palkia, said to live in a gap in the spatial dimension parallel to ours. Described as a deity in Sinnoh-region mythology, this dual Dragon and Water type Pokemon possesses the ability to distort space, with an appearance just as mighty to reflect its powers and prowess. It also reminds us of a pink Power Ranger! This incredible lilac Pokemon hails from Generation 4 and is known as the Spatial Pokemon. It has a light purple theropod like appearance and appears as like a giant metal dinosaur like creature, covered in armour. Or a Transformer! Good attacks for Palkia include Hydro pump, Spacial rend, Draco meteor, Thunder, Focus punch and Fire blast.
5. Giratina
One of the tallest Pokemon of all time in its Origin Form, Giratina is said to live in a world on the reverse side of ours, where common knowledge is distorted and strange. It was banished to the distortion world for its violence. A dual Ghost/Dragon-type Legendary Pokemon, often known as the Renegade Pokémon for its unruly tendencies, in its Origin Forme, it grows to an even more massive 22'08". The Origin Forme of Giratina is said to be Giratina's true form, capable of traveling through and controlling dimensions besides those of time and space. When in its Origin Forme, it can pass through dimensions at will, however, it will turn back to its Altered Forme due to the gravity change from the Distortion World. It can also change form when holding a Griseous Orb and originally debuted in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, being the cover mascot of Pokemon Platinum.
4. Eternatus
When it comes to the single tallest Pokemon in eight generations, it's no contest. Known as the "Gigantic Pokemon," Eternatus has a height of 65'07", which is enough to blow even Wailord away. Eternatus' incredible height stems from the fact that fragments of its own body fuel the phenomena of Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing. And to be even more extreme, its own unique Eternamax form is measured as a height of 328'01"!! The core on Eternatus' chest absorbs energy emanating from the lands of the Galar region. This energy is what allows Eternatus to stay active. In the Galar region, Eternatus' Eternamax Form is one of the bulkiest Pokemon in the game with a whopping 250 base special defense AND defense, PLUS base 255 hit points!
3. Kyurem
Ranking in at number 3 on our list of Dragon type Legendary Pokemon is Kyurem, a legendary ice Pokémon who waits for a hero to fill in the missing parts of its body with truth or ideals. It appears that Kyurem uses its powers over ice to freeze its own body in order to stabilize its cellular structure. Kyurem also has two incredibly powerful alternate forms which it achieves when it fuses with the legendary dragon Pokemon Zekrom & Reshiram.
Kyurem Black (when fused with Zekrom) is one of the most powerful physical attackers in the game with high base power attacks like Freeze shock & Fusion bolt.
Kyurem White (when fused with Reshiram) is an unmatched special attacker with high base power attacks like Draco meteor, Fusion flare and Ice beam.
2. Zygarde
This almost best legendary ground type pokemon is Zygarde, which sounds a bit like a Doctor Who monster, and is not far off, in many respects. A snake like Legendary Pokemon from Generation 6 (seriously, no Pokemon could be more 'Slytherin' than Zygarde), it is a dual Dragon and Ground Type and is known as the Order Pokemon (it just managed to get even slightly more Slytherin in our eyes). Its great typing makes it extremely versatile in combat and it can easily wipe out all those who oppose it, showing not a shred of mercy. As if it were not offensive enough on its own, Zygarde also has a Complete Form (pictured above) which has immense bulk, allowing it to become a formidable opponent at the highest levels of competitive battling. It also looks like a Transformer in this form, which is pretty darn cool.
1. Rayquaza
Our number one best legendary dragon type pokemon is none other than Rayquaza! Just that epic name is indicative of its mighty and ferocious nature, this legendary Pokemon is like a dragon snake hybrid. It consumes meteoroids for sustenance and flies forever through the ozone layer. It may be known as a dragon-type, but there’s no denying that it resembles that of a snake. Long and curled, with its epic Air Lock ability, Rayquaza is serpent-like in its movements and is easily one of the most powerful of the snake-like Pokémon. A dual Dragon and Flying Type Legendary Pokemon first introduced with the release of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Rayquaza is among the tallest Pokemon in the franchise with a height of 23'00". Even though it's incredibly large, Rayquaza is not often seen by the people within the Pokemon universe as it is said to fly so high above the clouds that it cannot be perceived from the ground. Though it does not evolve into any other forms, Rayquaza can Mega Evolve, which makes it even larger than its normal form and is even MORE supercharged! Good luck everybody else!
