Battle of the slimes! From green blob Pokemon to purple blob Pokemon and all slimy varieties thereupon, these Pokemon are defined by their rotund bodies but also some crazy stats and crazy cool designs too! Who is the best slime Pokemon? Read on to find out!
17. Slugma
A Fire Type Pokemon from Generation 2, known as the Lava Pokemon, Slugma is a limbless Pokémon composed of magma. Its body is bright red, fading to a duller red along its extremities, and its eyes gleam yellow. Slugma might seem appealing due to its ability to spread burns and prevent setup with Memento, but it's not very good at this role due to its poor bulk, low Speed, and common weaknesses to Rock and Ground. Despite it not being particularly comfortable in combat, it boasts a super cool design and is the prevolved form of iconic fiery Pokemon Magcargo!
16. Gulpin
A Poison type Pokémon introduced in Generation 3, it is known as the Stomach Pokémon and appears as like a rotund green blob, with a skinny yellow feather atop its head. Virtually all of Gulpin's body is its stomach and contains special enzymes designed to break down anything, meaning it can digest quite literally anything its own size with ease. The prevolved form of Swalot, albeit quiet and unassuming, Gulpin actually has some really interesting defensive qualities, not least the ability Liquid Ooze. Which sounds gross of course, but makes Pokemon take damage from absorbing moves such as Giga Drain or Leech Seed, which is useful against Pokemon such as Ferroseed. Yes, you came for the gory details!
15. Magcargo
The iconic fiery snail Pokemon! Despite its iconic status, Magcargo tends to feature down near the bottom of our list for its disappointing performance in combat, especially when compared to other Fire Types and other slime Pokemon. But comparison is the thief of joy and there are so many cool and interesting aspects to Magcargo and its design that we love it anyway! A dual Fire and Rock Type snail Pokemon from Generation 2, known as the Lava Pokemon, its body consists of molten rock, or lava, with its shell having formed as a result of cooling. It's said that its body temperature is 18000 degrees Fahrenheit and any water is vaporised on contact, making it very difficult for it to take a bath/nice rainy laps around the garden if it ever wanted to. Why do I always read this Pokemon's name with a Scottish accent in my mind? Does anyone else do that?
14. Swalot
The evolved form of Gulpin, Swalot is a Poison Type Pokemon from Generation 3, known as the Poison Bag Pokemon. Having no teeth, what Swalot eats it swallows whole. It bears an interesting and bizarre design, a rotund purple body decorated with black diamond shapes, complete with a pair of yellow whiskers, or a thin yellow mustache? When Swalot spots prey, it spurts out a hideously toxic fluid from its pores and sprays the target. Once the prey has weakened, this Pokémon gulps it down whole with its cavernous mouth.
13. Milcery
I have no idea how this adorable Pokemon got missed off the Cutest Pokemon Ranked list! This prevolved form of Alcremie is a Fairy Type Pokemon from Generation 8 and evolves in an extremely unusual and fascinating manner - while holding a Sweet when its Trainer spins and strikes a pose. The form it evolves into depends on time of day, the length of the spin, and whether the Trainer was spinning clockwise or counterclockwise, plus the type of Sweet that is held. All of these factors, the length of spin, the rotation, and the time of the day, decide what kind of Alcremie Milcery can evolve into - and there are so many adorable forms!
12. Solosis
Solosis is so cute! The prevolved form of Duosion and later, Reuniclus, this tiny, green baby blob is known as the Cell Pokemon and is a Psychic Type Pokemon from Generation 5. Many say that the special liquid covering this Pokémon's body would allow it to survive in the vacuum of space and that it communicates with others telepathically. It has a tiny, funny, diamond shaped gaping mouth and a tiny curl like frond sprouting from its head. It is a small spherical Pokémon that has the appearance of a single cell and is able to levitate using its psychic powers.
11. Duosion
The evolved form of Solosis, unlike other Pokemon, Duosion looks almost exactly like its prevolved form, just with a few more appendages! Just like an embryo in the womb, it has now grown to develop a tiny cone shaped body and pair of arms. Known as the Mitosis Pokemon, it is again a Psychic Type Pokemon hailing from Generation 5. Its psychic power can supposedly cover a range of more than half a mile, but only if its two brains can agree with each other. Combat-wise, it's not quite there yet. A middle-stager, it is surprisingly unbalanced. It has a very big special attack which is just 10 points away from Alakazam, but everything else goes from mediocre (special defense) to bad (defense, attack) to REALLY BAD (speed). But its too cute and we love it anyway! (And evolves into Reuniclus when fed 100 candies!)
10. Ditto
Known as the Transform Pokemon, Ditto is a bit of a wildcard and cool Pokemon in many ways. A Normal Type Pokemon from Generation 1 and hailing from the Kanto region, that does not evolve, it appears as like a purple blob and is often missed off ranked lists of Pokemon, due to its simple and unassuming design. But is definitely iconic in its own way! Ditto is a unique Pokémon because it can breed with any Pokémon in a Day Care Center regardless of its gender, except for another Ditto, Legendary Pokémon, Unown, Nidoqueen, Nidorina, and Baby Pokémon. It is fair to say that it is absolutely invaluable when it comes to breeding, being able to breed with every Pokémon capable of doing so and can also pass on its Nature and some IVs when holding the right item. A little bit of Ditto makes it your man (or blob!)
9. Muk
This grimy Pokemon is pretty iconic; Muk, not to be confused with its rainbow explosion of a version that is Alolan Muk, is a large, sticky, amorphous Pokémon made of living purple sludge, that arose from the depths of Generation 1 as a Poison Type Pokemon. Like its typing suggests, it is poisonous (or at least offensive) to pretty much every sensory organ and it is said to smell so bad it can cause widespread fainting. Through degeneration of its nose, it lost its sense of smell and it also went on to become a dual Poison and Dark Type Pokemon in Generation 7. It is the evolved form of Grimer (naturally)
8. Grimer
The prevolved form of Muk, Grimer is a slimy, amorphous Pokémon, born from sludge in dirty streams or seabeds that are exposed to lunar radiation. Also a Poison type Pokémon introduced in Generation 1, it is known as the Sludge Pokémon and looks like something straight out of a horror film! Grimer earned its place higher up on this list than you might expect, due to how often it gets overlooked, but is actually pretty cool. Quite the underrated Pokemon, Grimer has a very high base 80 Attack and HP, along with good base 50 Defenses. Its typing is a blessing in a Fighting-type filled metagame, and its ability, Sticky Hold, prevents Knock Off from removing its item, making it literally the best Mienfoo counter available. Don't knock this Pokemon til you try it!
7. Sliggoo
Even though a Dragon Type Pokemon, this critter more closely resembles a snail in appearance and carries its brain on its back, as its shell. A Dragon type Pokémon introduced in Generation 6, it is known as the Soft Tissue Pokémon and its four horns act as a high-performance radar system. Although this Pokémon isn't very strong, its body is coated in a caustic slime that can melt through anything, so predators steer clear of it. It goes on to evolve in to Goodra, one of the tankiest and strongest Pokemon ever!
6. Goomy
The prevolved form of Sliggoo, Goomy may be considered the weakest Dragon Type Pokemon, but that doesn't stop it from having one of the biggest fanbases and becoming an internet phenomenon, possibly due to being small and rounded, with funny little things sticking out of it, which makes everyone and their nan want to protect it. Genius! There is also the fact that by type he is considered more of a dragon than Charizard, which is very funny in itself. A Dragon Type Pokemon from Generation 6, also known as the Soft Tissue Pokemon, Goomy is mainly made up of water and is covered by a germ-laden, slimy mucous membrane that acts as a good defense system, as any punches or kicks slide off it harmlessly. Sometimes it pays to be a blob, especially if you can than go on to eventually evolve in to something truly powerful (that OPMC trope that drives pretty much every popular anime, where we root for the little guy the whole time)
5. Garbodor
A Poison type Pokémon from Generation 5, it is known as the Trash Heap Pokémon for… obvious reasons. Making Pokemon out of inanimate objects never fails to be creepy, as seen with these Ghost Type Pokemon designs! Even more creepy is that it eats rubbish or trash and the toxic liquid it launches from its right arm is so virulent that it can kill a weakened creature instantly. Ewwww! Still, I guess this Poison critter does send a strong message about the horrors of pollution. It hails from the Unova region and it is recommended to teach it Explosion so you don't have to look it anymore... ugggh!
4. Alolan Muk
This critter looks just like one of those slime videos for kids, where youtubers mix together a whole range of different coloured and textured slimes! This Alolan regional variant of Muk looks carnival ready with all its rainbow colours, although may look slightly lurid under some lighting. A colorful Pokemon from Pokemon Sun and Moon, it surpasses the original Muk with its interesting appearance. A dual Poison and Dark Type Pokemon, it can be easy to forget this cheerful looking creature is secretly a sentient glob of foul substances so toxic you could pass out just by coming into contact with them. It's just got better at hiding it. And now it does children's birthday parties. Not really. This rainbow-colored critter is gluttonous and will eat all the trash it can find, going so far as to prey on Garbodor! Maybe that is its secret, as it is pretty formidable in battle, with stellar defensive typing and above average special bulk making it an excellent special tank and one of the best Pursuit trappers in the tier, capable of providing valuable support to teams by removing threats such as Latias, Chandelure, and Gengar.
3. Goodra
You may have heard much about this slimy critter before you even saw it! The internet is awash with praise of Goodra, so much that it has become a bit of a legend in its own right! And for good reason too, as a powerful wallbreaker, versatile attacker, not to mention its amazing stats, plus its strikes land 100 times harder than any blow from a heavyweight boxer! It appears as like a big squishy lilac dragon, with super hench horns and slime glands, where it excretes slime from, dotted about its body. A Dragon Type Pokemon from Generation 6, it is known as the Dragon Pokemon and is known to be uber friendly, loving hugs from its beloved trainer, leaving that trainer covered in sticky slime.
2. Nihilego
Nihilego is a known Ultra Beast that hails from the same demented dimension as Naganadel and is known as the Parasite Pokémon. This Ultra Beast is categorized as “UB-01 Symbiont” for its capacity to enter symbiotic relationships with people and Pokémon. But that's not really a good thing as this terrifying floating jellyfish prefers to fully gain control over the host’s body and eventually consume it. A dual Rock and Poison type Pokemon from Generation 7 and first appearing in the Pokemon World from an Ultra Wormhole, in combat it naturally boasts amazing Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense to overpower its opponents, and all of its stats are not just off the charts, but out of the window somewhere.
1. Reuniclus
We couldn't end this list without topping it off with Reuniclus! Known as the Multiplying Pokemon, Reuniclus is a Psychic Type Pokemon from Generation 5 and is jelly-like in appearance, its design inspired by a cellular structure or your biology homework. Or a blob of mucus. It's still so cute though! The counterpart of Gothitelle, it has super powerful arms it uses in combat to subdue its opponents. It's said that drinking the liquid surrounding Reuniclus grants wisdom. Problem is, the liquid is highly toxic to anything besides Reuniclus itself. It sports a powerful 125 base Spatk, and a very bulky hp and spdef stat. It has an ability in magic guard, making it unstoppable against passive pokemon. Even if it isn't the most powerful in combat, Reuniclus is everything we think of when it comes to slime or blob Pokemon! Plus there is something to be said for its fighting technique, swinging its powerful arms around to beat opponents into submission!
