All the ecchi romance anime series to watch! Ecchi anime shows usually present a kind of softcore hentai, usually for humour purposes. They could include elements such as nudity, indications of sexual acts, panty shots or perverted situations. They can be suggestive, playful, awkward or all three and often used to present a romance between certain characters. A lot of anime fans know that ecchi is a typical theme running in more adult anime series, but combine it with romance and what do you get? You get a romantic protagonist chasing after a girl - or a guy! Or a deity of some kind - with a whole load of awkwardness and hilarity involved!
Best Ecchi Romance Anime Shows
1. High School of the Dead
The story centers around a group of high school students and the people they come in contact with as they survive against an outbreak of undead doing what they can to survive. With Japan thrown into chaos and their high school under attack, Takashi Kimuro must do what he can to survive. Vowing to protect Rei Miyamoto, his best friend's girlfriend, they must try to escape their death trap of a school and pursue survival in a society that has already fallen. We meet characters such as Saeko Busujima, the beautiful president of the Kendo Club; Kouta Hirano, an otaku with a fetish for firearms and Saya Takagi, the daughter of an influential politician, along with Shizuka Marikawa, their hot school nurse, all who form a very interesting band of characters!
2. High School DxD
Highschool DxD has everything you could wish for in a High School Harem anime. With an interesting art style, hilarious and well-developed characters, supernatural elements and love triangles and an epic soundtrack, there is so much to love for everyone! I definitely recommend checking out this one, you won't regret it. We meet Issei Hyodo, who has a reputation. A schoolboy with girls on the brain, at first glance this all girl’s school that’s he recently transferred to seems like the perfect choice... until he realizes what he’s gotten himself into. The school harbors a secret. Demons. Issei’s character never goes overboard in the wrong way, however. He is shown to be a stereotypical teenage boy but he has a good heart and strives to see the bigger picture. This anime is daring and controversial, and where it dares, it succeeds.
Each new adventure leads to many hilarious (and risqué) moments with his new comrades, all the while keeping his new life a secret from his friends and family in High School DxD! If you are looking for funny ecchi romance anime you will love this series!
3. Infinite Stratos
An exoskeleton weapon engineered by Japan, Infinite Stratos (IS) can be piloted only by women. Its power and combat prowess are so immense that an international treaty has been signed banning its use as a military asset. When it is discovered that 15-year-old Ichika Orimura is the only male capable of steering an IS, he is forcibly enrolled in the Infinite Stratos Academy: an all-female boarding school, the students of which graduate to become IS pilots.
At this training school, Ichika is reunited with two of his childhood friends, Houki Shinonono and Lingyin Huang, and befriends Cecilia Alcott, an IS representative from the United Kingdom. Guided by the legendary pilot Chifuyu Orimura—their strict homeroom teacher and Ichika's older sister—Ichika and the girls will need to use everything at their disposal to defend themselves and their academy against the dangers that will arise during the course of their thrilling school life.
4. Kanokon
Kouta has girl troubles of the supernatural sort, he finds himself frequently pursued by animal spirits and female deities! Which is awkward enough on its own, without having to adjust to a whole new school and place at the same time. Having grown up in the countryside, Kouta is understandably nervous when he moves in with his grandma to attend a high school in the big city. But he can't seem to blend in as he might have hoped, what with Chizuru, a beautiful fox spirit, hanging off his arm and Nozomu, a wolf spirit, in heavy pursuit of his attention, just to name a few, as there are many other youkai that have their eyes on this awkward country boy.
5. Kiss x Sis
A little bit strange and controversial as this anime revolves around stepsibling romance, but it only seems to increase its hilarity. Keita Suminoe finds himself stuck in the mother of all awkward situations as he ends up being pursued by his two teenage stepsisters, Ako and Riko, who develop romantic feelings towards him. Hilarity ensues as Keita, who refuses to see the two as anything other than his sisters, then starts getting into embarrassing, sensual and lustful situations with them. Will Keita cross the line of incest or will he be able to keep his family together - yet prise his sisters apart from him?
6. Sekirei
Struggling yet brilliant teenager Minato Sahashi has failed his college entrance exams for the second time, resulting in him being regarded as worthless by those around him. However, the course of his seemingly bleak future is altered dramatically when a beautiful, supernatural woman falls from the sky and into his life. That woman, Musubi, is a unique being known as a "Sekirei," a humanoid extraterrestrial with extraordinary abilities. These aliens are known for kissing humans carrying the Ashikabi gene in order to awaken additional latent powers deep within. Recognizing the potential within the seemingly insignificant youth, Musubi kisses the bewildered Minato, initiating a bond between the two of them. This drags him into the high-stakes world of the Sekirei, where he and his new partner must compete against others in a battle for survival called the "Sekirei Plan." However, unbeknownst to the contestants, there is far more at risk that what the competition initially entailed.
7. Shuffle
Shuffle! is an excellent harem anime that brought together unique characters, a strong feeling of drama, and a rather unexpected conclusion. Originally an adult game released in 2004, it is written and thought out so cleverly and the end result is an anime composed of all of the characters arcs and storylines in the game coming together to create something gorgeous and interesting. There are so many themes, of friendship, romance, with ideas about immigration and good-hearted demons or vindictive angels - plus a schoolboy trapped between worlds of gods and demons whilst also trying to study his hardest and come to terms with relationships. This anime is anything but standard making it well worth a watch.
8. To Love Ru
Here we meet Rito Yuuki, a shy and nervous high-school student who cannot confess to the girl of his dreams, Haruna Sairenji. The situation gets all the more awkward when one day when coming home and sulking in the bathtub, a mysterious, nude girl appears out of nowhere. Her name is Lala and she comes from the planet Deviluke, where she is the heir to the throne. Her father wants her to return to her home planet so she can marry one of the husband candidates. But she decides that she wants to marry Rito in order to stay on Earth. Her father decides that, if Rito is able to protect Lala from her fiancés, then he can marry her. However, if Rito cannot protect Lala from her other fiancés and meet the king's expectations, Lala's father will kill Rito and destroy the Earth, thus putting Rito in an incredibly difficult and truly even more awkward situation, especially with all the odd adventures and weird happenings that have been, well, happening since her arrival.
9. Yosuga No Sora
After losing their parents in a car accident, fraternal twins Haruka and Sora move to a rural town, where Sora develops deep feelings for her brother and pursues a forbidden love that threatens to disrupt their new friendships.
10. Aki Sora (Autumn Sky)
Again, a little bit strange and controversial as this anime revolves around sibling romance (this seems to be a recurring theme in ecchi romance anime!), and follows Sora Aoi and his changing feelings towards his attractive older sister Aki. As he comes of age, he finds it much harder to exchange simple 'love you's as they did at an earlier age. When Aki demonstrates that her feelings toward him to go beyond a sister's love, Sora finds himself in a state of anguish, questioning his feelings for his sister. Realizing their affection for one another, they consummate their love in secret. In a society that would never understand, they must now keep their love a secret from their family and everyone they know. However, Sora soon finds himself exploring many forms of love with different kinds of women he met that is not accepted by society thus questioning his feelings for his sister.
11. Bakemonogatari
This anime presents a couple, to who there is more than meets the eye. It is an entertaining look inside a relationship based on female dominatrix Senjougahara Hitagi and male submissive Araragi Koyomi, a third-year high school student who is trying to live a normal life, despite having survived becoming a vampire and being cured by old-man Oshino Meme. They come together gradually throughout the anime, after one day Koyomi is able to catch Hitagi as she falls, and realizes she too has something supernatural afflicting her. After taking her to Oshino to cure her as well, Hitagi becomes Koyomi’s friend. Together they encounter other classmates with supernatural problems and they attempt to help them. All the while, Koyomi and Hitagi develop their relationship with each other; with Hitagi and her verbal abuse and dominatrix role over Koyomi in their sadist-masochist dynamic. Bakemonogatari is a fascinating anime series depicting a dominant submissive couple in anime.
12. Kuttsukiboshi
This ecchi yuri romance anime borderlines on hentai; this is an anime with a lot of lovemaking involved, which is great if that's what you are in to. It also carries a dramatic storyline and instead of delivering plot twists, like one might be used to, Kuttsukiboshi brings shock, which isn't very common in shoujo-ai/yuri. The story is centered on the couple Saitou and Kawakami, that for Kiiko Kawakami, there is nothing in the world as important to her as Aaya Saitou. It is for that reason she has a secret to tell Aaya. Kuttsukiboshi is a story of infatuation and romance between two girls as their feelings for one another reach the tipping point. It has a really wonderful soundtrack and beautiful animation style, although maybe is designed to watch on ones one, creating that intimacy between the show and the viewer - maybe don't watch with parents!
13. Shomin Sample
Shomin Sample is one of those rare ecchi harems which actually feels genuinely original and refreshing to watch. Not just because the setting is somewhat unusual, but also because its ecchi elements feel perfectly natural, making it even funnier than you might expect! We follow Kimito Kagurazaka, a commoner who is pretending to have a fetish for men's muscles - a lie he must keep telling if he wants to keep himself out of trouble at the elite all-girls school, Seikain Academy. Adopted by the school under the assumption that he prefers men, Kimito is made to be their "commoner sample," exposing the girls to both commoner and man so that the transition to the world after school is not jarring. Threatened with castration should his true sexuality come to light, Kimito keeps up the facade to protect his manhood. But a harem of eccentric girls are around every corner who begin to make Kimito's life a whole lot more difficult...
14. The Testament of Sister New Devil
This succubus anime follows Basara Toujou as he is forced to grow accustomed to his new family living situation, the arrival of the two beautiful Naruse sisters Maria and Mio, who have come to live with him as stepsisters. Both of them have a secret which they cannot keep for long that Mio is the future demon lord and Maria is her Succubus servant. It's just very convenient then that Basara is the last descendant of demon-fighting heroes. But now that he cares for his sisters, he decides to protect them and forms a master-slave contract to keep watch over them. The two have a very questionable relationship with Basara as stepsisters. We get to see what happens when we keep a Demon, Hero, and a Succubus under the same roof.
15. Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero)
Louise is an anime character that is a little similar to Mildred in The Worst Witch, a mage at the prestigious Tristain Academy that can't quite do magic right, resulting in things often going wrong. Due to this her classmates call her Louise the Zero. One day during a summoning ritual, Louise accidentally looses her grip on the spell and ends up mistakenly summoning a boy named Saito. He serves as her slave, that is until she discovers a powerful brand on him, the sign of a legendary familiar known as Gandalfr. Now we are embarking in to standard shounen series territory. A guy from our world is summoned to help a protagonist who is struggling and in need of character development, he turns out to be really strong and super op, and they endure battles together. It has that classic mix of comedy, action, ecchi romance, and harem that you are familiar with!
